Thyroid Hormones refer to a group of hormones produced in the body .
They are involved in regulation of metabolism, energy and menstrual
cycle. The two main thyroid hormones are thyroxine or T4 and
triiodothyronine or T3.
* T4 is produced by the thyroid gland in the neck. It is the inactive
thyroid hormone in the body.
* T3 is produced (metabolized) in the brain and liver by conversion of
T4 into T3 and this is the active form of the hormone. If there is a
problem with the conversion of T4 to T3 we need to support T3, giving T4
(L-thyroxine+Synthroid) will not take care of the symptoms.
